Piccolo II

Pocket-size Class 2 integrating sound level meter with built-in data logger, octave bands and FFT, for noise surveys and long-term monitoring.

Piccolo II
Piccolo II from Soft dB (Canada) is a compact Class 2 integrating-averaging sound level meter with a built-in data logger. It measures all main noise parameters at the same time in A, C and Z weighting, together with octave bands and an FFT spectrum, so one instrument covers both quick checks and long measurement campaigns. The internal battery is recharged by USB and runs for about two days, or without limit from an external USB supply, which makes the meter suitable for unattended monitoring. Data is stored for up to 2 months at 5-minute averaging and up to 2 years at 1-hour averaging. The included software is used to set up the meter (averaging time, fast/slow, date and time), view the calibration certificate and IEC 61672-1 test result, and analyse results: time-history graphs or lists, octave and FFT spectra for any record, and export of selected data to text or Excel. The meter can also record audio (WAV) to help identify noise sources.

Key features

  • Meets IEC 61672-1 and ANSI S1.4 (Class 2)
  • Leq, Lmax, Lmin, Lpeak and SEL in A, C and Z weighting, plus LN%
  • 1/1 octave (31.5 Hz–8 kHz) and 400-line FFT, recorded together
  • Two measurement ranges: 30–110 dB and 46–130 dB
  • Long-term logging: up to 2 years with 1-hour Leq
  • USB-rechargeable battery, about 48 hours
  • High-quality audio recording
  • PC software for setup, analysis and export to Excel

Control and analysis software

Control and analysis software

The included PC software extends the meter: start single or auto-store measurements, change the display and measurement setup (input range, time weighting), set record duration and presets, synchronise the clock, download records and clear memory, record high-quality audio and view the built-in calibration certificate.
Record post-processing

Record post-processing

View every record as a time-history graph, read the values and spectrum at any point with the cursor, and export all or selected data to Excel for your report.
Spectral analysis

Spectral analysis

1/1 octave, 1/3 octave and 400-line FFT are recorded at the same time, in A, C or Z weighting, as live or averaged spectra.
